{"id":6546,"date":"2024-07-23T15:00:31","date_gmt":"2024-07-23T15:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstriumphs.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/23\/boeing-disappointed-customers-but-is-on-the-path-to-transformational-change-ceo-says\/"},"modified":"2024-07-23T15:00:31","modified_gmt":"2024-07-23T15:00:31","slug":"boeing-disappointed-customers-but-is-on-the-path-to-transformational-change-ceo-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstriumphs.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/23\/boeing-disappointed-customers-but-is-on-the-path-to-transformational-change-ceo-says\/","title":{"rendered":"Boeing \u2018disappointed\u2019 customers but is on the path to \u2018transformational change,\u2019 CEO says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">LONDON \u2014\u00a0Boeing\u2019s output of 737 Max planes is showing signs of improvement, the new head of its commercial unit said ahead of a major air show on Sunday, while admitting that the manufacturer has \u201cdisappointed\u201d customers with delayed planes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Boeing is trying to\u00a0get past several safety and manufacturing crises, including the midair door plug blow out in January, which have slowed deliveries of planes to airlines and prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to increase its oversight of the storied manufacturer.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p class=\"\">Stephanie Pope, in her first news conference since taking over the key role at the troubled aircraft manufacturer in March, reiterated that Boeing has committed to increasing production of the Max to 38 a month. Production slipped into the mid-20s per month in the first half of the year, analysts have said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Pope said Boeing is on the right path to improving its manufacturing quality, safety and predictability of deliveries, a \u201ctransformational change\u201d that she said will take years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cIt still doesn\u2019t take away the reality that we\u2019ve disappointed\u201d our customers, she said at a press conference before the Farnborough Airshow, outside of London. \u201cWe\u2019ve impacted their business and we haven\u2019t met the commitments and lived up to being the partner that they expect and they need us to be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Boeing has unveiled a host of goals aimed at getting it back on the right path, like improving worker training and manufacturing processes, among others. In the spring it delivered an improvement plan to the FAA that the agency ordered after the blowout in January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThis plan is not a three month plan,\u201d said Pope. \u201cI call it transformational because some of these actions will take years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">As part of the leadership shakeup that promoted Pope to head the commercial unit, Boeing\u2019s CEO Dave Calhoun said he would step down by year\u2019s end.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">When asked whether she was interested in the role, Pope said she is focused on the commercial unit\u2019s recovery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThat is my priority,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Boeing\u2019s problems aren\u2019t limited to its commercial program, however.
