{"id":1886,"date":"2024-03-08T00:07:54","date_gmt":"2024-03-08T00:07:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstriumphs.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/08\/absurd-ntsb-chair-blasts-boeing-for-failing-to-turn-over-records-about-midair-blowout-2\/"},"modified":"2024-03-08T00:07:54","modified_gmt":"2024-03-08T00:07:54","slug":"absurd-ntsb-chair-blasts-boeing-for-failing-to-turn-over-records-about-midair-blowout-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstriumphs.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/08\/absurd-ntsb-chair-blasts-boeing-for-failing-to-turn-over-records-about-midair-blowout-2\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Absurd\u2019: NTSB chair blasts Boeing for failing to turn over records about midair blowout"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"\">Boeing has refused to tell investigators who worked on the door plug that later blew off a jetliner during flight in January, the chair of the National Transportation Safety Board said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The company also hasn\u2019t provided documentation about a repair job that included removing and reinstalling the panel on the Boeing 737 Max 9 \u2014 or even whether Boeing kept records \u2014 Jennifer Homendy told a Senate committee.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cIt\u2019s absurd that two months later we don\u2019t have that,\u201d Homendy said. \u201cWithout that information, that raises concerns about quality assurance, quality management, safety management systems\u201d at Boeing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Lawmakers seemed stunned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThat is utterly unacceptable,\u201d said Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Boeing did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., said she will ask Boeing to cooperate with the NTSB. Cantwell, who represents the state where Max jetliners are assembled, noted that the company is a leading U.S. exporter and major defense contractor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cWe need to get this right,\u201d she said. \u201cWe need to help with the investigation so we can find out what in our system needs to be improved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Boeing has been under increasing scrutiny since the\u00a0Jan. 5 incident\u00a0in which a panel that plugged a space left for an extra emergency door blew off an Alaska Airlines Max 9. Pilots were able to land safely, and there were no injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In a preliminary report last month, the NTSB said four bolts that help keep the door plug in place\u00a0were missing\u00a0after the panel was removed so workers could repair nearby damaged rivets last September. The rivet repairs were done by contractors working for Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems, but the NTSB still does not know who removed and replaced the door panel, Homendy said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Homendy said Boeing has a 25-member team led by a manager, but Boeing has declined repeated requests for their names so they can be interviewed by investigators.
