{"id":1155,"date":"2024-02-16T12:59:39","date_gmt":"2024-02-16T12:59:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstriumphs.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/16\/mcewen-meding-buying-gold-juniors-now-watching-copper-demand-build\/"},"modified":"2024-02-16T12:59:39","modified_gmt":"2024-02-16T12:59:39","slug":"mcewen-meding-buying-gold-juniors-now-watching-copper-demand-build","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstriumphs.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/16\/mcewen-meding-buying-gold-juniors-now-watching-copper-demand-build\/","title":{"rendered":"McEwen, Meding: Buying Gold Juniors Now, Watching Copper Demand Build"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Rob McEwen of McEwen Mining (TSX:MUX,NYSE:MUX) and Michael Meding of McEwen Copper sat down to speak about<\/strong><strong> the outlook for gold and copper, as well as news from their respective companies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For McEwen, the price trajectory for both metals is \u2018higher,\u2019 although copper\u2019s gains won\u2019t be immediate. <\/p>\n<p>When it comes to gold, he has a long-term price target of US$5,000, and although the metal is well below that level, McEwen believes it\u2019s moving in the right direction with strong reasons to buy backing it up. <span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>He also discussed the disconnect between the gold price and gold stocks, commenting, \u2018I find this is the time to be buying, and I have been buying juniors and adding to positions in companies. You just need to bear in mind it\u2019s cyclical, and when it wants to run there are some very attractive gains to be made \u2014 and the stocks are cheap right now.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Meding shared updates on McEwen Copper\u2019s Argentina-based Los Azules copper project. <\/p>\n<p>The company is looking to raise $100 million to move forward at the asset, whose backers include carmaker Stellantis (NYSE:STLA) and Nuton, a Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO,NYSE:RIO,LSE:RIO) venture. According to Meding, the plan is to release a feasibility study for Los Azules by the first quarter of 2025. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018There is a very interesting demand scenario coming up for copper, and I think that Los Azules is the right project at the right time \u2014 lots of additional blue sky,\u2019 he said, noting that the limits of the orebody haven\u2019t yet been found. <\/p>\n<p>McEwen\u2019s closing words focused on strategy. \u2018The mining sector has been ignored. It\u2019s often been said that contrarian investors make money in the market.
